Jenny Robertson, MA, LCPC
Psychotherapist and Registered Drama Therapist
Kristen is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Registered Drama Therapist who specializes in the transformative power of the creative arts. At Capital Children’s Wellness Center, Kristen moves beyond the limitations of traditional talk therapy by utilizing the "theatre as a laboratory" for emotional and social growth. Her approach is grounded in the belief that movement, storytelling, and improvisation provide a unique bridge to the nervous system, allowing clients to process complex experiences through action rather than just words.

As a specialist working with children ages five and up through early adulthood, Kristen intentionally incorporates theatre tools such as roles, relationships, and play to facilitate deep therapeutic change. Her work is informed by post-graduate training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Synergetic Play Therapy. By blending these modalities, she helps neurodivergent individuals explore their internal landscapes in a safe and distanced way, fostering a sense of felt safety and self-expression.

With extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, Kristen is dedicated to providing a neurodivergent-affirming environment. She utilizes drama therapy to help clients navigate sensory overwhelm and social transitions without the pressure of performance or compliance. Her goal is to empower every individual to find their own narrative and build a life that feels authentic and regulated.

When she is not working, Kristen brings her love for movement and creativity to her personal life through aerial circus, sewing, and making art. She also enjoys the outdoors, practicing sword fighting, and training her cat, Peanut, who serves as a constant reminder of the joy found in play and patience.
