Danielle Maizel  MA, LCPC, RPTâ„¢

Founder, Psychotherapist, & Registered Play Therapist

Danielle is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist dedicated to helping children, teens, and young adults navigate the world in a way that feels authentic and supportive. As the Founder of Capital Children’s Wellness Center, Danielle provides a neurodivergent-affirming space where the "therapeutic power of play" serves as the primary language for healing and growth.

Specializing in the birth-to-five population through early adulthood, Danielle’s approach is deeply rooted in interpersonal neurobiology and a humanistic, people-centered philosophy. While she is a non-directive play therapist at heart, she integrates Synergetic Play Therapy, AutPlay®, and EMDR to support the unique nervous systems of her clients. Her work is specifically designed to bridge the communication gap for neurodivergent individuals, moving away from "compliance-based" models toward true emotional regulation and felt safety.

Families often seek Danielle’s expertise when navigating difficulties around sensory and emotional overwhelm, chronic meltdowns, and developmental transitions that feel stuck or misunderstood. Danielle helps caregivers address their own fatigue by shifting the focus from "behavior management" to "connection and understanding."

Danielle works closely with caregivers to empower them to shift out of survival mode by providing them with the tools to advocate for their child's unique needs while fostering deep, relational connections. Danielle’s mission is to ensure that every individual she works with feels seen, heard, and empowered to live a life that feels genuinely good to them.
